@ eric

The cafe idea has been abandoned - simply no interest. Planning amendment sought to convert to 2 apartments.

Taller of the two cranes now completely removed. Hopefully the Promenade will soon be re-opened and the gating into the site will be Resident-only access. That should put paid to the mindless morons who insist on cycling through the site - despite 'No Cycling' signs. One elderly resident has already been knocked over by a cyclist with many 'near misses'!

Cannot for the life of me see why it should be a problem as there are sufficient signs indicating the route cyclists should take during building works and promenade closure and it is NOT through the site.

They are cyclists. It's the same when they ride on the road when an expensive cycle path is built for them. It is to prove they can go anywhere they like, and havent learned to read yet. The amazing thing as those who ride through the Prospect Place gardens on their way to the centre actually take the longer route!

I guess they arent the sharpest knives in the drawer

It looks as if the promenade around the horizon building is now completed and is open to the public!

The application to convert the "cafe" into two residential units has been withdrawn and the "cafe" space is being marketed again. I'll try and take some pictures of the remaining buildings, now that they have reached full height, over the weekend.

I understand that there has only ever been one 'interest' in the retail option at the tower block and that didn't amount to much. Apparently, lack of 'footfall' is the reason. I cannot see that has changed much. Let's face it, the other retail unit couldn't attract interest - for the same reason?

It will just take some time for the area to develop. Just look at how long it took the ones in Celestia to fill up, 9 years!
