The corner by St John's church and that street could make a nice additional "cafe quarter" with a little outdoor seating. Not sure how well that goes with Caribbean or upmarket Chinese (although I agree both would be a welcome addition to the city).
Speaking of Caribbean, wasn't there meant to be a Turtle Bay opening on St Mary's street?
And speaking of Faux American dining.. we might have another such place opening up! The old Pure Rugby unit next to the Brewery Quarter on St Mary's street is subject to a change of use application to A3 to allow the opening of "Grilled", which will serve American inspired grills (steaks, chops, ribs, etc). May do better as I get the impression that actually having a more limited menu helps build a stronger brand. I think Applejacks tried doing a bit of everything vaguely American and hence didn't have a USP (it was up against say TGIs, yet lacked the name recognition).
