I tend to side with Kyle and RC on this one - sorry, Jantra! What does worry me is that with these three schemes being progressed it's likely to be a long time before we see any further office development in the central bay area. There's an awful lot of empty sites and empty buildings down there and schemes like Porth Tiger seem to be pretty much stalled.

I don't want to tempt fate but it seems to me that Central Square is looking hopeful. One building underway, the BBC committed and the Council will have to deliver a new bus station in the next couple of years. Ownership issues are all sorted. There isn't any reason to demolish St Davids House until there are definate plans so we won't have big holes in the ground for years on end.....

Capital Quarter has 3 buildings completed and almost fully let, one building under construction, the bridge has been completed, the site has been cleared, no ownership issues and planning permission already granted for student resi which will pretty much complete the first phase.

CS is completed north side (lets leave to one side the quality). I think it's close to fully let as well. It would appear construction is imminent on the south east corner. That leaves the south west corner to be built to complete it (for the purposes of this post I'm forgetting about the reconfiguration plans that seem to have been booted into the long grass). All it takes is L& G to take the plunge, one big inward investment or put a convention centre and/or arena there and it's finished.

I don't think any of the above will happen overnight but I get the feeling there is a bit of momentum building. I'm optimistic which is not a natural state for me.....

I am hoping that the Convention Centre and new Indoor Arena will be built where Brains currently is. It will be a wasted opportunity if it is put down the Bay IMO. Exciting times ahead for our city centre anyway. I eagerly await to see what Network Rail have in store too.

It would be a pity to lose some of the older buiuldings on the brewery site - particuarly the original Victorian County Brewery. In terms on connectivity though it would be a good site for a convention centre. A clever architect could probably incorporate the best of the old buildings which are clustered on the station side of the site into a scheme.

I dunno, I really like having the brewery there. For me it's one of the nice things about Cardiff and I wish they made more of it with proper tours similar to the tours you get in Dublin and Amsterdam. I know Brains isn't as famous as Guiness or Heineken world wide but it would be a good attraction. One of the best things about Dublin is the view from the room at the end of the Guiness tour.

You'd think that if little Penderyn can run tours in the back end of Hirwaun then Brains could've done something similar in the city centre and make a show of it, but as they as just an 'industrial site' in the city centre, they could be located elsewhere though I will miss the smell of hops on my way to work in the morning. The land by the train station on the banks of the Taff is prime real estate land. Would be ideal for a Convention Centre and Indoor Arena and it would be a wasted opportunity to locate it elsewhere.

The Deloitte jobs are mentioned in the news again today, 700 jobs to take the workforce to over 1,000 which is a decent prescence in the city.

I guess what we'd previously read was at a point where the jobs weren't actually confirmed ?

Still nothing to say that they are actually going to Callaghan Square though. Maybe that will be soon in a Deloitte specific press release ?

I've heard HSBC are moving into the Eversheds building and taking over one whole floor. This is a relocation from within the city but what I gather HSBC are going to be upping their game in terms of presence in the city of the coming years too.

That's great news, although I wasn't aware there was spare space in that building.

If Brains were to get flattened I'm done with Cardiff. Nothing is sacred.
