James Sommerin and Bar 44 both get 4/5 on Trip Advisor - the same score as Duck Egg Bleu, Arbennig gets 4.5 while the Pear Tree score 3.5. Both parts of Cardiff ( :D ) have some nice places.

All these new places to eat, might gain me a few extra kilos that I'll have to burn off on the journey home down Windsor Rd!

Prezzo's good, I went in their for lunch today. Farage wouldn't like it in there but I thought it was a good way to ease yourself in to the weekend.

I was a bit sniffy about Zach's initial post on this thread but having been in Penarth this week I think he may be on to something that actually goes a bit wider than just restaurants.

The Penarth vibe does appear to have got younger and less 'blue-rinse' recently. Talking with friends who live in the town they say there are lot of young couples, often with local or Welsh connections, who are relocating from London because of affordability issues for young families.

It's just anecdotal but I'd regard an influx of young professionals as being generally good for the local economy - although there might be a downside for localy based first time buyers.

Does any one else have evidence or thoughts on this?

I've not really noticed. Maybe it's just more bars and restaurants opening that attract a younger crowd. It does seem to be having an upswing though with good quality restaurants and bars opening all the time.

rumour has it the mint and mustard are taking the tandoori house on Windsor terrace - it was going to be a Domino's

There has the be a post billybanks effect, you don't just knock down one of the UK largest council flat complexes and put in its place another huge owner occupier complex this time and think the demographics of penarth will not change.

The effect is not just penarth, walked past about 4 newish resturants at the top of catherdral road last week and all full.
This is the pre-election tory boom, they have even arranged the weather to be dry and sunny for the election campaign.
Not sure how they have done it but I bet its that australian campaign manager.
