Looks like Cardiff Waterside think there may be a chance for them to get a pre-let for developing 5 Pierhead Street - diagonally opposite Ty Hywel on the site of the surface car park.

Its only a brochure. And no indication of spec dev. But its the first bit of marketing for this site for quite a few years, and its new information that this site is the "next phase" as opposed to 1 or 2 Assembly Square, or 6 Pierhead St. Perhaps its aimed at one or two occupiers looking for big square footage and big floor plates?

good find Cambo, it looks ok from the renders - as always, the devil is in the detail. it would certainly add a bit of bulk to that area and stop it feeling 'edge of town business park' rather than next to the seat of government. another good thing is there are no street facing car parks on this build. in fact, with the car park next door you have to wonder whether there will be any at all?

I'm also not sure what the design would/could be. The header page render is completely different from the yellow building shown on the local map (penultimate page). I know its only indicative but surely they should try and get the ends to join up

It's all pure speculation, just an idea from him of course and I'm not sure spending shit loads of money on new offices is required at the moment.

Natas, the Portuguese bakery, has opened and is already doing good business. It's dirt cheap - a tuna and cheese pastry and a strong black coffee for £3 sit in. Good cakes and bread, but the coffee is undoubtedly the best in the Bay if you like it strong - their Americano makes Starbucks' look like dishwater. Though come to think of it...

Natas was at that Street Food Warehouse under Arms Park at the weekend. They're everywhere at the moment!

Also, not sure how long its on for but there's an art exhibition on on the ground floor of the Cory's Buildings. I only noticed as I walked passed and while the art wasn't to my taste, it was a good chanc eto have a look at the building. It doesn't seem to be in too bad a nick and some of the modern ceiling tiles were missing showing how detailed and intact the original ceiling appears to be - and what a great staricase/hall. Anyone ever been in? I wonder how they obtained permission to use it?
