It may have been doing "OK" but decided to assign its lease to Barburrito - which probably can eke out more value from the unit: the average selling price will be higher; more options for extras (nachos, guacamole, etc); and probably scope for some more expensive beverages (maybe some Mexican beers).

Artigiano have opened in Working Street already. That is one hell of a turn around as I think they only began work on the unit about two weeks ago. The Queen Street one will probably be open soon as well.

Uncommon Ground has opened in Royal Arcade and the Boardroom in Duke St arcade. Three coffee shop openings in one day.

Just walking into town and noticed Browns on The Friary next to the Hilton has closed and been emptied already.

I wonder who will take over the unit now? Seems a good location.

Went to Bills in the Bay and apart from their having a chef who can't tell the difference between rare and medium well done on a steak (which they apologised for and replaced immediately) they are v nice people and good service. Having a back door onto the terrace is a bit of a pain (or at least a cold draught) in the neck but a slight improvement in the weather should put paid to that. And yes, hugely popular already.

The Brown's until has been sold to Stonegate Pub Co and will become The Slug and Lettuce (used to be next door and in Working Street prior to that).

Brown's seemed to struggle from day one, I'm not sure why as it's an OK offer for Mitchell's and Butler's. May be that the circuit it's on is all drinking venues. Probably would have done really well in the old Habitat building. Instead we got another bloody Miller & Carter :(

Good point - Brown's would have been a potentially good fit intot he Habitat unit. The outlets that I have been into are all in rather stunning , ornate old buildings (esp the Manchester one!).

I'm surprised that it's becoming a place called the slug and lettuce - that sounds like a generic 90's pub name that is well and truly past its sell by date.

Toby Carvery have decided not to continue with the concept of their Sandwich Bars and therefore all sites are closing/have closed.

The site seems a bit small for Barburrito though.

Seems to be some movement on the hotel in Dominions House, and it's going to have a Marco Pierre White restaurant as well.

Sadly, MPW will lend his name to anything these days, so it's only a guarantee of price, not of quality. There's been some stinking reviews of stuff under his name recently.
