if it's about Cardiff.. Sport, Entertainment, Transportation, Business, Development Projects, Leisure, Eating, Drinking, Nightlife, Shopping, Train Spotting! etc.. then we want it here!
I've often wondered, just how the hell the Cardiff City Council approved the construction of the the cinema building so close to the Stadium. Apart from the fact that its a really ugly buiding that significantly detracts from the views of the stadium, anyone with an once of engineering sense would realise that the funnelling would occur.
I'm really curious as to whether the stadium's facade was actually designed to resisted funnelling loads. I doubt the wind load assessment considered a neighbouring building so close as it's not often that future buildings are considered. It would appear than anyone who did a pedestrian wind study when the cinema was built was either ignored or made a very poor assessment.
To be honest, compared to a lot of what they produce nowadays, it really is news. Most of the articles look like they're sponsored - lists of "best" shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as news stories on the opening or expansion or change in these kinds of ventures, big and small. Coverage of real news on the other hand has declined massively.
I'm not disagreeing that the story is limp! however I've got to admit that crossing that bridge on a windy day can be quite an ordeal. I remember an occasion When my daughter was a baby and I was pushing a pram across from town to get home. I approached the bridge and just wasn't prepared to risk it (with the thought of a gust lifting the pram, and well that thought was enough) anyway I backed off and walked back around the station and over penarth road bridge instead.
