On the not using IE Browser, why not go the whole hog and ditch Windows for Linux Mint as an operating system? I've used it for years, never had any issues with it.
I always found Linux to be a perfectly fine operating system, as long as you didn't want to do anything wildly advanced or sophisticated, like playing music or videos, or connecting a printer.

Yes this was true of printers on linux a few years ago, but things have gotten better you know. Streaming video, you just have to work out the path /dev/video0 , but remember to sudo the video application from a command line prompt rather than click the icon! Yes, to be honest it could be easier
